A Few Ways to Make Money For the Struggling Student

This is just going to be a quick post on a few different ways to make money as a college student. I just started this blog so i want to at least get a decent amount of content out there for you guys right off the bat.

Used Iphones or Smart Phones:
This one may seem cliche, so i reluctant to advise it. however i recently had a great experience with it.
One way that comes to mind is selling old Iphones or any sort of smart phone. A couple weeks ago i was hanging out at my girlfriends house and her roommate walked in with a cracked Iphone 4s. She asked if she was allowed to throw it away, or if it was considered toxic waste. I said, i don't really know but why don't you just sell it. Everyone in the room laughed at me looking at the clearly mangled phone. So i took it off her hands, i checked those sites that offer you money for used phones and found that they are truly a scam. They offered me ten bucks for it and did not even ask me if it was in working condition or not. I then decided to check Ebay and found that the exact same phone is going for $75 to $90 crack and all. Needless to say that you should keep your eyes open for people trying to discard old phones, its far more lucrative then everyone thinks.

Amazon Mechanical Turk:
As i stated in a previous Mechanical turking is currently my favorite method of getting extra money as a college student. Amazon gets a bunch of requests from research companies, organizations as well as private contractors to carry out simple little tasks that computers are not necessarily able to preform. Amazon them makes these tasks available to people, (turks). Each task pays anything from $0.02 to $5.00 and even upwards to $20.00 for a myriad of different tasks.
In most cases you will find yourself taking surveys, but hey you're getting payed, by a very reputable organization. Amazon has much better things to do than rip you off for your $105!

Ebay!...or i guess etsy if you are that talented.
Look around your room. More times than not there are things to sell. If You are thinking to yourself nope i don't have anything at all, please refrain from leaving this site! What about that old Wii thats sitting in the corner that nobody plays because it requires too much physical activity, its worth atleast $150!
I recently sold a couple surfboards, A used iphone, a nintendo Ds, and even a few old games i dont play anymore, hell if i find out i dont need a text book for a class anymore, i try to unload those as quickly as possible too.
Even more surprisingly i sold an Ipod shuffle, yes an ipod shuffle....those little square things with no screen that hold like 100 songs. i sold it for $35. Nothing crazy but lets be honest, nobody could have forseen those things being worth anything at all.

I am not advocating you selling off your life, but heck if you aren't using it anymore, its probably time to let go.

Mechanical Turk- Great Way to Make Money on Your Own Time

So the word mechanical Turk does not make any sense at all, and most times when i say it to people they make a really puzzled face. However, it makes a whole lot of sense for someone who wants to work a little, but only has sporadic time slots. I will first attempt to explain what exactly a mechanical turk is, then i will tell you how much money you can expect to make.

I decided to write about this one first because it is my favorite method of making money on my spare time so far. So basically, Amazon gets a bunch of requests from research companies, organizations as well as private contractors to carry out simple little tasks that computers are not necessarily able to preform. Amazon them makes these tasks available to people, (turks). Each task pays anything from $0.02 to $5.00 and even upwards to $20.00 for a myriad of different tasks.

I like Turking more than taking surveys because although you will end up taking some surveys while turking, you will seldom find yourself getting declined like you do in online survey taking.
I personally have been turking for 3 weeks and have made about $175.

Once you get the hang of turking you can make about $7-$10 an hour just by sitting at your computer. If you spend one to two hours a day you can very easily make $75-$100 dollars a week.

Amazon will also pay the money directly to your bank account, or you can use it on amazon.com itself! this is useful because there really isnt much that you cant buy on amazon.

Most of these jobs include survey taking (dollar for a 5-10 minute survey), Translations, Essay Writing, and sometimes even testing games. Although it may not be the most exciting thing ever, it is a surefire way to make money as a start. I loved it and you will too.

Next post i will compile more of a list for making money as a college student.

A Place For Broke Students Who Need Extra Cash

Hello, the purpose of this blog is to outline ways in which college students can put a little extra cash in their pocket. As most of us know it is not always easy to just simply get a job, especially with such limited time on our hands. I personally play college football and could not even dream of having a job for at least 8 months out of the year. And as a finance major, this annoys me to no end. So alas i decided to compile some of the ways i have been able to make money, as well as provide insight on the other ways that will most likely end up wasting your valuable time.

After reading countless article after article on this exact subject i can say from experience that they do not exactly provide insight on how much money you will actually make, as well as how long it will actually take to make said money. I am going to do just that and in the first couple of posts i will probably outline my absolute favorite methods. This is not to say that i wont find even newer methods as i am constantly finding ways. Anyway, thanks for reading, i hope it all helps you save some time, and of course, make some money.
